It is  neutral  supervising  cotton  organization  that  serves  the cotton  sector  by offering  thirty  four  services  to  the  sectors dealing  with seed cotton and lint cotton .

Applying  the  provisions  of  law  No.106  issued  in  1973  for  insuring  the  purity  of   Egyptian  cotton  varieties  and  its  international  reputation .

Represents  the  government  in  many committees  such  as  the Cotton  Exchange, ALCOTEXA and  the  Up-country General  Cotton Marketing Committee .

Classing and evaluating  the cotton  crop  and  supervising  it  throughout  all handling  procedures  right  from  picking  until  exporting  or  handing   over  to  the  domestic  spinners .

Modern  Laboratories  for  determining  the  moisture  content  of  cotton  being  handled  domestically  or  cotton  prepared  for  export  and  supervising  their  weights  and  issuing  international  authorized  certificates .

Labs  equipped  with  modern  instruments  for  testing  the  technological  characteristics  for  all  Lots  and  issuing  authorized  certificates .

Carrying out the ministerial decree for determining the trash level  "contamination " to all lots for Egyptian cotton  protection .

Preparation  of  the  official  standard  boxes  representing  the  standard  grades  for  all Commercial varieties and its distribution to all Egyptian Concerned parties .

Applying  the  arbitration  in  its  different  stages ( arbitration , appeal and  counter  appeal) between concerned parties’ which conducted by CATGO’s  sworn experts .

Participated in the round test with the International Bremen Cotton  Exchange for calibrating and standardizing its instruments and it has also continuance connection with the ITMF ( International  Textile Manufacturers  Federation ) .

International  Cotton Training Center ( ICTC ) for  training  and  preparing  qualified  technical  staff  for  the  Egyptian  cotton  sector  and  those  delegated  from  abroad  .

Information & documentation Center ( IDC ) serving  all  parties  dealing  in  cotton  with  its  different  activities  in  technical  and  commercial  aspects .
